Description
Summary:
A stretch of treacherous water to cross, and no boat to do it in. All they had was a few plywood drop-tanks jettisoned from aircraft, lengths of bamboo, bits of wood . . . and their courage.
And they needed courage, for that stretch of water connected one island that offered only a slow death to another that offered a quick death – or perhaps a tiny chance of life.
