Summary:
The big Horsa glider plunged into the sea with a sickening crash and began to settle immediately. Desperately the men inside struggled to escape, only to find themselves caught in murderous fire from the enemy shore. This was their introduction to the invasion of Sicily, and it was a disaster. They had been dropped too soon, and Sergeant Fred Butcher reckoned he knew whose fault it was that all these lives had been lost. The R.A.F. were to blame . . .
