Summary:

When the Germans made their famous airborne attack on the island of Crete in 1941 hundreds of men on both sides were killed in the fighting. Two soldiers, an English infantry lieutenant and a German paratrooper leutnant, came close to killing each other, but by a miracle of fate their lives were spared.

Now they sat together, just two men, friends for a brief moment amid the hatred of war.
