Summary:
He was the rear gunner of a Lancaster and was just completing his latest tour of operations. In fact this was his last trip before going on leave.
But he never got that leave. Instead he found himself in France, on his own, and with the enemy approaching rapidly.
The situation was desperate enough — but within a few hours it was going to become ten times worse!
