Fighter pilots tend to be a superstitious lot. Many of them carry mascots and other lucky charms into battle as insurance against misfortune.
Pilot Officer Terry Cooke was just such a man. He reckoned that the medallion he wore round his neck was pretty hot stuff when it came to getting him out of trouble. The only drawback was that it seemed to get him into very tight corners in the first place!
