Summary:
High on the castle ramparts, the mediaeval mortar roared five times . . . and five times the brigands below ducked. But the missiles passed high over their heads, to land harmlessly in the distance.
“The Count’s aim is rusty,” the brigands jeered. “Our siege will continue. Soon his gold shall be ours.”
The mortar did not roar again and Count and castle soon fell to them – but not the gold, which had mysteriously disappeared into thin air . . .
