Description
Summary:
During the Second World War the Americans were the experts when it came to storming ashore on islands held by the Japanese. They’d bomb them, shell them, then hit the beaches with thousands of troops.
Marine sergeant Jim Hayward and his handful of men found their landing on an enemy island a quieter affair. Shipwrecked, they staggered up the sand without even a pistol to protect them.
However, what they did have was courage and cunning – weapons that were about to give the Japanese garrison a whole heap of trouble.
