Description
Summary:
Captain Jim Howard cautiously parted the tall jungle grasses, peered ahead, and then advanced. His trained eye had given him the all clear. No Japanese snipers, no booby traps or ambushes.
What Jim didn’t see was the shadowy figure flitting from tree to tree like a ghost through the dense greenery – behind him. He didn’t see the muzzle of a gun slowly rise and stop, aimed at the middle of his back, or the face of the man behind the gun, a face twisted with rage to kill.
Yet the gun was an Owen gun, and the man behind it a fellow Australian soldier.
