As the Allies pushed their way into Burma the high-speed motor boats of the Royal Navy were in the thick of the action. One minute they’d be giving support to the army, moving so near to the shore to shoot-up enemy positions that they risked running aground. The next they’d be engaged in close-quarter combat with Japanese vessels on the narrow rivers, where one slight error could mean death.
