Summary:
To the watchers in the radar station on the south coast of England that summer morning in 1940, the Channel seemed peaceful enough. Then suddenly a black shape broke the surface and seconds later a battery of rockets screamed up and away towards the collection of huts and masts on the cliff-top, destroying them totally. It was the first appearance of a new German weapon – the rocket subs. Sneaking up close to the shore, surfacing, firing their rocket salvo then disappearing beneath the waves again, these U-boats could wreak havoc all along the coast of Britain. They would have to be stopped . . .
