Description
Summary:
It was a perfect night for the air strike led by Flying Officer Larry Burke and Pilot Officer Bob Sterling in a wild attempt to sink the mighty Japanese battleship IKASAWA as it lay at anchor.
But unfortunately the Japanese had been tipped off. The alert, disciplined Japanese A.A. gun crews were waiting, the short, stubby barrels of the quick-firing guns pointing skywards, ready to take their flaming toll.
The Lancaster with Larry and Bob aboard bought it that night, and the scrapes that this terrible pair got into after they hit the drink were enough to make a nervous wreck of every Japanese who ever went to war.
