Description
Summary:
Merlin engines bellowing, Lancaster after Lancaster heaved its bomb-laden bulk into the night sky – destination Germany. Every man aboard those aircraft knew that the darkness held a hundred hazards, most of them fatal. Not one of the crewmen would relax until their tyres once more touched friendly soil.
With the German night-fighter crews it was the same, their nerves stretched to breaking-point. For every airman flying, the long night had begun.
