Summary:
Sixty miles . . . that was all that lay between the war-torn island of Malta and the German and Italian torpedo-boat bases on Sicily. Those craft could cover that distance in a short time, which spelled disaster for convoys trying to reach Malta, as the raiders were too small and manoeuvrable to be dealt with by the convoy escorts. It was up to the M.T.B. flotillas to stop them . . .
