Description

Summary:

Sergeant Joe Gibson was an instructor at base, well behind the front line. And that’s how Joe liked it. When the fighting reached him again, and a near miss blasted the tunic off his back, Joe’s one aim in life was to get conveniently “lost”, well to the rear. He borrowed the tunic and papers of a sergeant he thought to be dead, and started walking.

Not until some time later did Joe find out – to his horror – that he was impersonating Sergeant Craig – V.C. By that time he was up front where the fighting was hottest, with brave men shaking his hand, slapping his back, and waiting confidently for “Craig”, the hero, to lead them in every battle.
