Not many R.A.F. pilots flew in a small private air forces run by Chinese Warlords. But sergeant Phil Drake did and, in less than a week, he switched from a powerful, well-armed Bristol Beaufighter to another aircraft from the Bristol stable – the obsolete Bulldog biplane which had been built about twenty years before.
It just couldn’t touch the Beau for speed and its two machine guns were a joke compared to the devastating fire-power Phil usually had at his fingertips. Staying alive was going to be a lot more difficult now . . .
