Description

Summary:

There weren’t enough aircraft carriers to protect the Atlantic convoys from enemy reconnaissance-bombers, so the War Office came up with a new idea. Put catapults on the foredecks of merchant ships and launch fighter aircraft from them!

It worked too, but for the Hurricane pilots it was deadly dangerous. At the end of their flight they had to bale out and come down by parachute into the sea. Sometimes they were picked up, sometimes not. It took courage to do a job like that . . .

Condition:

Very slight stacking curl, general wear. Book is otherwise clean and sound and in good condition. Bags and boards optional, please add during checkout if required. Please examine photos carefully and see our notes on item condition before purchasing.
