Description
Summary:
Andy MacDonnell was proud of his grandfather. A piper in a Scottish infantry regiment in France in the First World War, he’d fallen leading a charge on the German trenches, his war pipes skirling bravely.
Now Andy, a Second World War private in the mammoth retreat to Dunkirk, heard the same pipes, and saw the ghostly figure of his grandfather leading him into battle. And even although he was the only man left in the platoon, Andy knew he must follow – no matter where the ghostly piper led.
