Summary:

Life was hard on the North West Frontier of India in the 1890s as young bugle boy Freddie Rudge found out when he was posted to Fort Chitral. But things were to get worse, much worse, when a ruthless Russian arrived to stir up trouble between the British and the warlike Afghan tribes.

Soon it looked like a full-scale war would erupt along the frontier – and only Freddie the bugle boy had any hope of stopping this.
