Summary:
It was a dark story from the times when pirates and buccaneers plundered ships all across the Spanish Main. One sea-raider above all, the dreaded Joshua Tate, had earned a name for cruelty – and luck. Some even whispered that he had made a pact with the devil who had given him a magical compass to help him steer clear of trouble.
Centuries later that same compass cold be found aboard a British Motor Torpedo Boat during the Second World War. The skipper, after a very bad run of misfortune, reckoned he and his crew needed all the luck they could get. Only time would tell if it was a wise decision . . .
