A swashbuckling opening bat and an unorthodox soldier, that was Lieutenant-Colonel Sir James “Jumbo” Jepson. High Command, however, felt it wasn’t quite cricket for Sir James to decide to become a one-man, mobile spying unit in Sicily – especially as he had full knowledge of imminent Allied invasion plans.
So Sergeant Jack “Tracker” Todd was sent to bring him out – or kill him if it seemed that the enemy might learn his secrets. But the Top Brass didn’t know that Tracker had met Jumbo before, and ever since had been nursing a hatred for the man . . .
