Summary:
In 1936, Hans Liebner was drafted into the Wehrmacht. The young German disliked the Nazis and all they stood for, though, so he deserted and made for Spain. The country was in the midst of a brutal civil war between the Nazi-backed Fascist Nationalists and freedom-fighting Republicans. Hans joined an International Brigade – a group of foreign volunteer soldiers dedicated to fighting for the Republican cause.
It was a deadly business with many casualties, and things would get even worse was Hans was suspected to be an enemy agent . . .
