Description
Summary:
Two desperate men ran crouching across the enemy airfield in Sicily. Heart-thumping seconds later they were aboard a Savoia bomber, a knife held against a terrified Italian’s throat as he explained the controls. Then, at last, the engines spluttered into action as the desperate pair prepared to run the gauntlet of flak and fighter to fly this plane back to their base on Malta.
And that was just one typical day in the life of Bob Reid and Ernie Black – the R.A.F. pilot and his observer who always ended up to their necks in trouble.
