Lost in the cloud and mist, thousands of feet above the ground, L.A.C. Reg Linton felt fingers of fear grip his heart as he sat in a Spitfire cockpit and tried desperately to pierce through the gloom.
How he, and R.A.F. mechanic, came to be airborne like this would take some explaining to the Top Brass. But, worse still, he wasn’t sure which direction to fly.
For one course led back to base and safety . . . but the other would wake him into Nazi territory!
