Sub-Lieutenant Robin Baxter was a hero. At least, that’s what he reckoned. That’s him telling the newspapers all about it in the picture below.

But he was in for a shock when he was drafted to his first ship, the submarine “Rapier”. Because her skipper, Lieutenant-Commander Tiger Casey, wasn’t interested in newspaper heroes – he needed the real kind in his crew. Because his crew weren’t called “Casey’s Pirates” for nothing . . .
