Sweating and gasping under the hot North African sun, Gunner Ben Chalmers rammed yet another shell into the smoking breech of the twenty-five pounder gun. Beside him, Sergeant Barry Griffith wiped dust from his tired eyes as he bent to squint through the sights yet again. Despite the shells they’d fired, despite the many hits, the Jerry tanks kept coming, rumbling closer and closer.
