When Pilot Officer Danny Evans was posted from a Spitfire squadron to a dead-beat outfit flying Gloster Gladiators, he reckoned he’d see no more action. Stooging about over the Indian Ocean in an ancient biplane a full hundred m.p.h. slower than his previous kite wasn’t his idea of being a fighter pilot. The war would never catch up with him again, he thought.
Well, he thought wrong. In that Gladiator he saw more action then he’d ever dreamed of!
