Kapitanleutnant Franz Beyer was acclaimed a hero of the Reich when his U-boat valiantly sank the British cruiser “Cambridge”.
But he didn’t win any admirers among the Allies when it was learned that he had also blown a small boat out of the water, then machine-gunned the survivors.
