Description
Summary:
One of only two annuals produced by Commando, the other being the 1990 edition. The annual breaks from Commando tradition by featuring stories in colour. Some stories are in full colour while others are dual tones. The 1989 edition featured 7 previously unpublished stories, as follows:
The Young ‘Un! – That’s what they called Joe Symes, the youngest of three brothers working on an East Coast collier – but when war broke out, Joe had to grow up . . . fast!
No Surrender – Angus McKay was a fightin’ man and he wasn’t about to be taken prisoner . . . no matter the odds!
Duel In The Sun – A fight to the death between two modern gladiators. At stake . . . thousands of Allied servicemen’s lives.
Killed In Action – Sergeant Sam Varley and his two 25-pounder guns are all that stand between the might of the Afrika Korps and a breakthrough!
Big Bird, Little Friend – Pilots Phil Travers and Pete Carney had always been rivals . . . till that fateful day over war-torn Nazi Germany.
The Good Soldier – Martin Winter wasn’t one of Hitler’s glory seekers. From the victory in France to the rout in Russia . . . he simply did his best.
The Three Musketeers – Friends from boyhood days, Sid, Ernie and James were to make a formidable team against the Germans in France.
