Description

Summary:

June 1940, France had fallen. The badly mauled British Army was recovering from the Dunkirk evacuation. All along the coast of northern Europe the seemingly unstoppable Germans were gathering a sinister armada of invasion barges, their destination – England. British Prime Minister Winston Churchill informed the nation that the ‘Battle of France’ was over and that ‘I expect that the Battle of Britain is about to begin.’

No invasion fleet could hope to cross the Channel, however, while the RAF remained capable of blowing it out of the water, so the Germans set out to destroy the aircraft, obliterate the airfields and kill the pilots who stood in their way. The courage and skill of the RAF pilots and ground crews during those few hectic weeks over the summer of 1940 has formed the backdrop to some of the most outstanding Commando tales ever published and stories like ‘The Flying Avengers’, ‘Winged Wolves’ or ‘Spitfire Spirit’ bring the atmosphere of the battle spinning into the 21st century.

Presented 25 per cent larger than when originally published, this special edition drops you out of the sun into the midst of the dog fights, the howl of the Merlin engine on full boost almost drowning out the roar of the Brownings thundering away in the wings either side of your cockpit. Whether you are a novice ‘sprog’ comic book pilot or a seasoned veteran, the fantastic aero art created by  the Commando artists and the compelling stories will leave you gasping for the next ‘SCRAMBLE’!
