Werner Kohl had seen plenty of action all right . . . but not on the battlefield. All his fighting had been done on film, playing the part of a super hero to make every citizen in Hitler’s Germany believe that the Nazi war machine was unbeatable.
He had critics, though – many of the soldier who had to face real death and fear on every front where the guns thundered. Every last one of them wondered how Werner would cope with the real thing.
