Description
Summary:
Like many Spitfire pilots, Cliff Cochrane looked on the Hurricane as a lumbering cart-horse compared with his sleek fighter. He reckoned he was proved right when he learned that 40mm cannon had been fitted, making it even slower – and relegated to a ground-attack role.
However, posted to North Africa, Cliff found that these modified Hurricanes could pull their weight and some in the fierce desert battles. Never more so than when a German armoured column broke through and the order was given –
“Hunt The Panzers!”
