Description:
World War Two Raid On The Forth by Commando cover artist, Graeme Neil Reid.
On the 16th of October 1939, just six weeks after the commencement of the Second World War, twelve German Ju88’s attacked the Rosyth naval base at the Firth of Forth. Royal Air Force Supermarine Spitfires from 602 and 603 Squadrons engaged the bombers.
The raid can lay claim to a number of firsts of World War Two: it was the first bomber raid by the Luftwaffe over British skies. It was the first instance of an enemy plane being shot down by a Spitfire and it was the first time German personnel became prisoners of war on British soil.
Originally created as the cover for the comic book ‘Raid on the Forth’ by Maximised Comics, this is a superior quality silver halide print on archival quality paper. It features a metallic gloss finish for exceptional visual interest and depth.
The print measures 28 x 20.3 cm and has been hand-signed by the artist, Graeme Neil Reid.
Graeme Neil Reid has produced the art for multiple Commando comic covers, including no. 5153 The Red Devil, 5249 Crisis On Crete and 5452 Lone Wolf.
