In the year before World War II began, a green British E.R.A. racing car battled it out on Europe’s top tracks with a white German Mercedes Benz for the glory of the chequered flag – and a nation’s honour. Young Rex Baker, Britain’s up and coming star, matched skill and speed with Kurt Konig., Germany’s ace driver.
In 1941 they met again, green against white, in another contest – but this time it was kill or be killed! Rex flew a green Spitfire, Kurt a white Messerschmitt 109.
Against a backdrop of towering white clouds began this desperate duel of aces.
